Malcolm R. Fobes III is the founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Berkshire Capital Holdings, Inc. ("Berkshire Capital"), which has served as the investment adviser to The Berkshire Funds since 1997.
Mr. Fobes has over 25 years of experience in the investment management field as a securities analyst and a portfolio manager. Mr. Fobes manages the investment program of the Berkshire Focus Fund (the "Fund") and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fund's portfolio. He has been the portfolio manager of the Fund since its inception in 1997. Mr. Fobes founded Berkshire Capital in 1993 where he has been responsible for directing the company's investment programs in both public and private companies located in Silicon Valley. Mr. Fobes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from San Jose State University in California.
In addition to the Fund, Mr. Fobes also serves as an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee for United States Commodity Funds, LLC ("USCF"). He has been listed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a Principal of USCF since November 2005. USCF is the investment adviser to 16 Exchange Traded Commodity Funds with approximately $5 billion under management.
From April 2000 to July 2006, Mr. Fobes also served as co-portfolio manager of The Wireless Fund, a mutual fund which concentrates its investments in companies engaged in the development, production, or distribution of wireless-related products or services.
Mr. Fobes was also contributing editor of Start a Successful Mutual Fund: The Step-by-Step Reference Guide to Make It Happen (JV Books, 1995).
